Privacy Policy

Summary: SpeedMeter GPS uses your location only to calculate speed and distance. Location and trip data stay on your device. No account and no analytics. The free version shows ads, served by Google AdMob, and the ad SDK may collect a device advertising ID and IP address for that purpose. Location is never sent to the ad provider.

Location

The app uses your device's location (GPS) to calculate your current movement speed, distance and journey statistics. Location is used only while the app is open. The app does not request background location and does not send GPS data to any server. Location is never shared with the advertising provider.

Trip data

Trips (speed, distance, times and a simplified route) are stored only on your device. They leave the device only if you choose to share a trip summary with the Share button. You can delete trips or clear all history in the app at any time; uninstalling the app removes all app data. If you use your phone's own backup, Android may include app data in that backup.

Accounts and permissions

No account is required. The app does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, photos or files. The only sensitive permission requested is location.

Advertising

The app contains the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). Ads can appear as a banner, an interstitial between trips, a full-screen app-open ad, an in-feed native card and, only when you ask for it, a rewarded video (watching it turns ads off for the rest of the session).

To show ads, Google may collect and process:

the device advertising ID (AAID) and app/device identifiers such as the app package name,
your IP address and coarse region derived from it,
device type, operating system, language and screen size,
ad events such as impressions and clicks.

Google collects this data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy: Google Privacy & Terms. You can manage or reset your advertising ID, and opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Google → Ads). Personalised ads can be turned off without affecting the rest of the app.

Ads are also requested through Google's authorized sellers. The authorized sellers for this app are published in ads.txt.

What the app does not do

No analytics, no crash reporting SDK, no social media SDKs, no account and no server of our own. Nothing about your journeys is uploaded by the app.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Where required, Google serves only non-personalised ads to users below the age of consent.

Changes to this policy

If the app adds another third-party service, this policy and the Google Play Data Safety section will be updated before that version is released, describing what is collected and how to opt out.
